Being rich isn’t fun when your dad is a womanizer whose newest girlfriend just stood you up in front of the entire high school. Seventeen-year-old Devin Asher has had enough. Armed with a full bank account and summer vacation ahead of her, she takes a random road trip to have an adventure that will beat living in a house with a new step-mom each month. The only problem? She has no idea where she’s going.
When she stumbles upon the small town of Silver Valley on a pee break, Devin runs into one of her dad’s old girlfriends—the best one he ever had. Heather takes her in and gives her a place to sleep for the night and a warm breakfast from the local diner the next morning. Here Devin meets Tobey, a handsome mechanic who’s on a mission to steal something very dear to him. Devin isn’t sure if she’s up to the challenge of breaking and entering, but with the way Tobey smiles at her, she’s willing to try.
The Best Kind of Thief (Devin and Tobey, #1) Reviews
At first, I found this author because of her other series Summer Unplugged which seems like a great couple of books (unfortunately, I haven’t read it yet). Today, I saw another book of this author as a freebie on Amazon, so I took my chance and read The Best Kind of Thief.
It was a sweet story and although I’m not exactly at the age of “target audience” anymore, I enjoyed reading this book. Nice and quick read (it’s very short – I would prefer much longer book, but never mind) for a cloudy afternoon. 3.5 stars
What I like the most about this book is the message of the story – that money doesn’t buy happiness.
It contains a cliffhanger, so I simply have to read the next book in Devin and Tobey series. I’m looking forward to it; it’s relaxing to sometimes read a young adult story and return to your teenage time.
Favourite quote: “You stole his food and insulted his looks and he still asked for you number. That’s impressive.”
I love this author. Her stories are fun relatable and sweet. This was no exception to that. Great little story.
this was a good book I really liked it. and I also liked summer untold by Amy sparling, so you should read it.
I read this book in half a day, I liked the plot but felt the characters progressed to quick. I also didn't like the ending the book should have finished the conflict in one book not two. I rate this book a three out of five.
