I first got this book from my local library. Then, I decided to buy a copy. I didn't read the whole book. But, only the parts I thought were important for myself like some nutritional information and information on the prequel, fast, and sequel. I love the diet. It's simple and easy to do. And, you do get a lot of good information about nutrition on this diet. You won't starve. I calculated the calories per day and they are at least 1500-1600 and you can add more if you wish. I lost a few pounds on the diet, and I've kept them off. The diet helped me get rid of my reflux!! And, that to me is HUGE! Now, three months later I'm doing the diet again, because I know it's not a fad or starvation diet....it helps you eat healthier and feel better. The fast was so easy. I thought I'd be starving. But, I was fine! By the way, I also exercise several times a week. During the fast, you can't really exercise except go on a light walk. But, the fast only lasts one day. Altogether, it was a great experience!!!
I completed this and the end result was feeling great, no IBS symptoms, and a 4lb weight loss. Absolutely will detox periodically utilizing this tactic.
This book makes a great supplement to The Fat Flush Plan also written by Ann Louise Gittleman. These two books are full of information for people to use to design a plan to fit their needs. This author understands issues of toxins, adrenal fatigue, and diabetes. Her eating/exercise plan addresses these issues and is supportive of the liver as well as cleanses the colon for effective elimination. Her exercise plan involves walking and bouncing on a rebounder to keep the lymph system moving. Even with fibromyalgia, I am able to follow this plan. I'm very satisfied with the results. In one month, I've lost 9 pounds and have had great improvements in my fibro symptoms, energy level, and mood. It seems my thoughts flow easier as well. My skin is looking fantastic, and friends are commenting that my coloring looks so much better. Ann Louise Gittleman also has a website where I've been able to find even more information, recipes, and support.
Very good, informative book on how to detox. Easy & clear-cut directions. It says one day, but there's a week beforehand that you have to eat certain things, and 3 days afterwards, so it totals 11 days, which is about right. Dr. Oz said you need to detox 10 days at least for it to do much good. You need to follow it to the letter in order for this detox to be effective. We all should detox 4X/yr (at beginning of each new season), at least, to get rid of toxins that accumulate in our bodies.
This book goes into any possible thing you could want to know about what it involves, making it extremely thorough for the what and how it works. It is careful to go into after-care on coming back out of the detox.
